SUNCAT Blog

SUNCAT is the Serials Union CATalogue for the UK research community.

SUNCAT is a free EDINA service enabling researchers, librarians and others to locate serials held in libraries throughout the UK. The catalogue contains information on both print and electronic serials, including journals, periodicals, newspapers, newsletters, magazines, annual reports and other publications of a continuing nature.

SUNCAT currently contains serials' information from over 70 UK research libraries, including the British Library and the National Libraries of Scotland and Wales. New libraries continue to be added to the catalogue on a regular basis.

Keeping SUNCAT up-to-date

To make sure that the serials' information on SUNCAT is kept as current as possible, we have been busy setting up regular updates from our Contributing Libraries. The updates contain details of new titles added to a library's collection or amendments to existing titles and also any titles which have been removed. We are now receiving regular updates from over half of our 66 libraries and are working with the others to ensure that SUNCAT is kept current. To check how up-to-date a particular library's data is or to check if your library's latest serials have been added please visit the updates page on the SUNCAT website. We will also start posting the latest updates, as they happen, on this blog.
